Thermal complex in Zakopane
A year-round geothermal complex, Bachleda Termy Kasprowy, is being built on Polana Szymoszkowa in Zakopane. It takes the place of a former bathing site below Gubałówka, and construction is already under way.
Scale and thermal water
According to the investors, the facility is to be the largest geothermal pool complex in Poland and the second-largest covered aquapark in the country. Only Suntago Wodny Świat, located in Mazovia near Mszczonów, is to be larger. The complex is to cover 47 thousand square metres and hold three thousand people at a time. The investment cost is estimated at about half a billion zlotys.
The complex is to use water drawn from a well reaching several kilometres below the surface. Its temperature is to reach up to 50 degrees Celsius, and the intake yield has been set at about 50 cubic metres per hour.
Timetable and layout
The builder is a company belonging to the Bachleda Group. If the schedule holds, the first visitors will use the facility on 6 December 2028. The thermal baths are to operate all year round. The design divides the site into zones: pools and water attractions for families, as well as saunas, hydromassages and a wellness area. Some attractions are to be placed on terraces and roofs overlooking the Tatra mountains.
In an interview with the weekly Tygodnik Podhalański, Adam Bachleda-Curuś, vice-president of Bachleda Grupa Inwestycyjna and co-owner of the group, said the facility being built on the site of the former summer bathing area would cover 47 thousand square metres and hold three thousand people at a time. The investors say the region is becoming a thermal hub.
