Poland's National Fund for Environmental Protection and Water Management closes on Wednesday, 30 September 2026, the application window for loans under the priority programme "Opening up thermal waters in Poland". Applications had been accepted since 2 May 2023.
What the loan covers
The programme's funds are to finance geological work serving the identification and exploration of thermal water deposits, so that they can be made accessible. Support takes the form of a loan covering up to 100 per cent of eligible costs.
The loan covers costs above the unit costs set for grants, listed in the "Unit cost catalogue" annexed to the programme. It therefore complements grant funding for the same project.
Budget and who may apply
The planned allocation for loans is PLN 50,000,000. Eligible applicants are local government units or their associations that have already signed a grant agreement with NFOŚiGW for the same project.
How to submit an application
Applications are submitted electronically through the Application Generator (GWD). Without an electronic signature, applicants must also deliver a printout of the application bearing a barcode and signed statements: to the NFOŚiGW office on business days between 7.30 and 15.30, or by post or courier to the Fund's address, marked "Udostępnianie wód termalnych w Polsce" pożyczka. Applications filed after the deadline are rejected.
The deadline was extended
According to the call schedule, the closing date was not left in its original form: it was extended from 30 November 2025 to 30 September 2026. The programme coordinator is Beata Traczyk. The NFOŚiGW call schedule is current as of 25 September 2026.
